The format opens up the weekend for both small and large boats to compete for prizes on an even level, with three billfi sh divisions and an other species division. Early March is a fantastic time to fi sh Gold Coast waters, with juvenile Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, various Tuna species and other game species being readily available.
The entry fees include a BBQ Dinner at the briefi ng on Friday night, a BBQ Dinner on Saturday night, a Presentation Dinner on Sunday night, Tournament T-shirt and team bags. All competitors will be eligible for the trophies on offer and be in the draw for the many prizes this Tournament offers.
The Tournament is based at Southport Yacht Club, Macarthur Parade, Main Beach, only 5km south of the Gold Coast Seaway. The Southport Yacht Club will provide secure berths on a raft-up basis right in front of the clubhouse, as well as a secure hardstand for trailer boat vessels.
Anglers and crew may stay on their vessels at no cost or may independently book accommodation within a wide range of establishments within walking distance of the Club. As this is a licensed Club, no swimwear, thongs, singlets or stubbies are to be worn within the licensed areas
Yacht Club staff and the Committee will be there to assist with berthing.
The compulsory briefi ng for skippers or team captains will be held at the Southport Yacht Club Friday 12th March 2009.
An auction of quality game fi shing accessories will be held on Friday and Sunday nights for those anglers interested in picking up something special.
We have certainly made a huge effort to put this great Tournament together. A proportion of any surplus made at this Tournament will be donated to CAMP QUALITY, the Club’s main charity.
